Department head word

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Praise be to Allah, Lord of all worlds, and prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and companions.

The Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science – University of Gharyan is pleased to present to our dear students and all those interested in academic matters the officially approved course descriptions of the department. We believe that clarity in the academic path and transparency in the scientific content are two fundamental pillars of quality university education, helping students plan their studies consciously and understand the expected learning outcomes at each stage.

The department's academic programs are designed to establish a solid foundation in chemical knowledge, starting with General Chemistry courses that cover fundamental concepts such as the structure of matter, the periodic table, chemical calculations, bonding, and molecular structure. The curriculum then progresses to cover the branches of analytical, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry, along with associated laboratory skills and modern scientific applications, ensuring a balance between theory and practice, and enhancing students’ abilities in scientific thinking, analysis, problem-solving, and adherence to professional safety standards in laboratories.

The department places special emphasis on developing the research capabilities of students through courses and components that cultivate skills in scientific research, report writing, and data analysis, culminating in the Graduation Project, which represents the culmination of the student’s scientific and research experience. The department also ensures the regular review and updating of courses and their content to keep pace with scientific developments, labor market requirements, and community service, in line with the university’s mission and its focus on academic excellence and social responsibility.

In conclusion, I warmly welcome you to the Chemistry Department page and reaffirm our continuous commitment to providing high-quality education, preparing graduates who possess knowledge, skills, and professional values, and who are capable of contributing positively to development, research, and innovation.

May Allah grant us success.
